The Wide Open features award winning songwriting duo Season Ammons and Allen Rayfield. Their distinctive style of soulful, blues-infused vocals, swampy harmonica riffs, distorted banjo licks and well-crafted lyrics with R&B grooves lends itself to the new movement that is Americana Music.
Originally from St. Louis, Allen Rayfield is a three time WINNER of "Best Harmonica Player" in The Emerald Coast and Season Ammons, a Texas native was nominated in 2014 by The Academy of Texas Music for "Best Female Vocalist" and the duo was recently nominated for "Best Americana Album" in 2016 by The Independent Music Awards.
The duo show stands alone with tons of energy and sound as they play various instruments and back one another in harmonies. However, depending on venue and event needs The Wide Open can expand with additional members to include electric and slide guitar, fiddle, keys, drums and bass. Regardless of band configuration, The Wide Open puts on a fun, engaging and memorable performance every single time!!
Working with veteran Texas producer Dave Percefull and his Grammy Award winning production team, The Wide Open gears up to release their sophomore album 'Long Road Home' .
“The Wide open is a breath of fresh air! Their debut album "We'll Get By" is a blend of all things Americana: Soul,R&B, Adult Contemporary, Blues and Folk. Splashed with just the right amount of attitude, The Wide Open builds on their harmonies with an infectious sound that will leave you asking "How can 2 people sound like a 6-piece band?" Simple, it features some awesome harmonica work, banjo, ukulele, and I would swear I heard a washboard in there somewhere! I was already familiar with the ultra-talented Season Ammons, and she has never sounded better than on this CD! A little flirty, a little bawdy and a whole lot of passion define her strong vocals that weave seamlessly with bandmate and partner Allen Rayfield. Traylin Gastone and Scott Rockwood round out this album for an upbeat, creative, and definitely summertime vibe to it, seeing them play live is officially on my bucket list!!!”

“The Wide Open is a Fort Walton Beach group with eyes on taking over the musical landscape. With acoustic oriented songs dunked in vats of energy and charm, the group’s first release highlights their ability to be a collaborative unit. It’s a fun album from a fun group of people!”
